Montfort Empowerment Park

Montfort Empowerment Park, Gorai (MEP) was established on 2001 under the patronage of Mumbai Archdiocese. It is situated in Dharavi Island, which is part of the Green Zone of Mumbai mega city. True to its name the campus is a palm-fringed paradise on the shore of the Arabian Sea. The Gorai village, where MEP is situated is inhabited mostly by fisher folks and farmers. Some 95% of the 5000 population is catholic and they prefer to call themselves East Indians.

The mission of MEP is presently focused on the school dropouts. The MEP campus is in the process of establishing a Non-formal Technical School, Vocational Training College, MSG Computer Education and National Open School in order to provide alternative to the youth who are not sustained by the present academic system. In addition to the local goal this centre hopes to participate in the justice issues related to the more than 50% of students, who dropout of the present education system at the national level.

The short term goals are milestones to long-term vision of a national, eco-friendly institution, net-working with all those, who are committed to an equitable education and training for life in a Developed Country.
