St. Joseph’s Home

St. Joseph’s Home is situated just a mile away from the Calangute Beach. St. Joseph’s is a unique home, an oasis for over 200 of the orphaned and disadvantaged children of Goa and the neighbouring states.

The foundation for this home was laid in the year 1964 by a noble priest Ft.E.F.Rego, whose tomb now lies right at the entrance of St.Joseph’s Boys Home.

Fr.Rego was moved by the plight of hapless children roaming on the beaches involving themselves in beggary and sale of drugs, often subjected to humiliation.

With a large heart and limited resources that he had, he started the home with 10 children. During years that followed many more children joined the fold.

In the year 1981, when Fr. Rego began falling sick, he handed over the Home to the Society of Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel. Today the Brothers have over 100 children under their care in the Home.
